Rein Kooyman

Spending time with artist Rein Kooyman, while traveling through Senja, Norway. While we co-created his photoseries ‘Nobody at Home Tonight’ I was asked to make portraits of him.

His work is a combination of installations, his soul and deeper messages. As he travels to the most beautiful places, he captures nature and adds organic materials by hand that form his imagery to a mysterious whole. Often showing his photo series through exhibitions, using actual material that he took with him from the places where he shot.

We stayed in the most authentic Norwegian homes, created non-stop and listened to the most magical ambient music while being on a hunt for suiting locations. Driving through the mountain tunnels and coming out to completely differently sceneries kept blewing our minds. Thick mist banks, the most breathtaking mountains and the sun shining through, making every scene even more beautiful.

This whole journey made allowed me to reflect on my life, connect with a likeminded being whom I just met and capture the beauty that this planet has to offer.
